Last year, in April, Sharjah was selected by UNESCO to organize the "World Book Capital" (WBC), an event which aims to promote reading and publication-related activities. Following this recognition from UNESCO, Sharjah decided to create a new space entirely dedicated to this area. Named "House of Wisdom", this future iconic 12,000 m² building (spread over 2 floors) will house a huge library where more than 105,000 works will be available. It will be open to an audience of all ages and all nationalities. Technology has obviously not been left out as many interactive installations will be offered to visitors.
This "House of Wisdom" will be located on the road to Sharjah International Airport, in the middle of landscaped gardens in which we can already see "The Scroll" - a visually striking work, unveiled when Sharjah was retained to organize the WBC.
